Right Information, Right Time, Right Place

The Digital Education Revolution (DER) combined with the personal communication revolution has led to a heavy ICT footprint in schools and unprecedented connections between school and home. To realise the benefits promised by the ICT in education we need to establish a viable ecosystem of interconnected information systems that fosters innovation, liberates learners and provides teachers, parents and school authorities with the information and tools they need to plan, deliver and make decisions. The education ecosystem is inhabited by learners, educators, policy makers, regulators, governments, professional associations, product vendors and information providers, all of whom have a vital role to play.

Australia's education Ministers are aware of the opportunities and the challenges of the DER and have taken steps to optimise connections in the digital learning ecosystem.

Bruce Rigby's Biography
Bruce Rigby trained as a scientist and worked in the field of ecological research before pursuing a career in education.  From that point he has been involved in developing applications of technology to support learning, teaching and professional development, with a special focus on extending the learning experience to include people, information and institutions beyond the traditional classroom.

Between 1995 and 2010 he held positions with the Victorian Government leading programs in learning technologies, online service delivery, knowledge management and technology strategy.  He is currently seconded to the National Schools Interoperability Program (NSIP) as Program Lead, Stakeholder Relations.

NSIP has been established by State Territory and Commonwealth Ministers of Education to facilitate collaboration amongst school systems and education authorities in delivering the vision of the Digital Education Revolution. This includes promotion of standards such as the Systems Interoperability Framework (SIF) which has already resulted in a vibrant partnership between education authorities and suppliers in delivering enhanced ICT products to schools.
