Desktop Architecture: the Bond experience
In a world where the proliferation of consumer led technologies such as smart phones and small form factor computing devices has changed expectations and behaviours, Bond University is in the process of developing a desktop strategy which will enable a positive student and staff experience. This rapidly changing environment requires a rethink of the established model of Standard Operating Environment. The concepts of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and Choose Your Own Device (CYOD) also present a number of challenges in support, provision, security and managing such a diverse range of technologies and platforms that need to be factored in.
Our approach has been to engage with the Bond community, staff and students, on their short and long term requirements. We are reviewing our technology environment including our Desktop Architecture, business processes and supporting technology toolsets (ITSM) to ensure we are in the best position with the right tools to meet the new demands.
This presentation will report on the processes undertaken at Bond to engage with the community and to review the technology environment. The results of those exercises and the strategy developed to date will also be outlined.
