Securing the private cloud

In today’s corporate environment there is a push to virtualise the server environment across multiple security zones.  The server and application environment is changing with organizations looking to lower their TCO of IT and increase their efficiencies within the organization.  Both to make the most of their investment in IT by ensuring that resources are well utilized and to lower their carbon footprint and been more ecologically friendly.   The challenge for the organization is to do this in a secure manner.  Check Point will look at the current issues surrounding the virtualization of systems in the corporate environment and ways to control these risks.  These are;

  • Blurring of security zones within the environment
  • No control on communications between virtual hosts
  • Control of security moving from the security team
  • Maintaining security in mobile virtual environments
  • Auditing of security in Virtual environments

Gary Gardiner's Biography
Gary Gardiner is a security consultant with Checkpoint Software.  Gary joined Check Point March 2010.  Gary has been working within the Information security since 1999.  During this time he has worked for large financial and government organisations. Gary has experience in securing complex environments provide security reviews and penetration testing.

Gary’s role within Check Point is providing consultancy to customers and organisations in all aspects of security.  Gary relocated from the UK in 2003.  Gary holds a CISSP certification.
