IPv6 in Campus Networks

AARNet
Date: Tuesday 12 July 2011
Time: 9.00am - 5.00pm

This hands-on workshop will build all the elements of a institutional network, configuring each for native IPv6. Participants will gain enough information and hands-on experience to deploy IPv6 within their campuses; networks, systems and applications.

Topics include: basics, client configuration, autoconf, DHCPv6, dynamic DNS, OSPF3, MBGP, SSM multicast, path MTU discovery, firewalls, web and mail servers, IPv6 changes to the sockets API. Topics will not include: tunnels, vendor-specific protocols such as EIGRP. The workshop will close with a wide-ranging discussion of deployment strategies.

Participants will be required to bring a notebook to which they have configuration rights and program installation rights; a RJ-45 UTP patch lead. Experience with any make of router command-line, knowledge of IPv4 and its routing protocols, and administration knowledge of at least the operating system installed on your laptop is required. Nominees lacking one of the prerequisites should contact the organisers in advance of registration.
