Student Forum: The 21st Century School - led by the Hon. Peter Garrett (via VC)
Today's kindergarten students will be retiring in the 2060s. We know very little about what the world will look like then, or what technology will be available, yet we are charged with preparing our students for life in that world. Students will always need to have strong fundamental skills, like literacy and numeracy. But we also need to equip them to be good citizens and effective workers in a world managing challenges as diverse as climate change, economic equity, food scarcity, and the health revolution.
So how does this translate into the school environment? What do schools need to do to support tomorrow’s leaders in the developing the skills they will need? How can we equip them to make the best use of the technology they will have?
In this forum a select group of Year 11 and 12 students from around Australia will join with the Hon. Peter Garrett (Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth) via High Definition Video Conferencing to discuss schooling in the 21st Century.
