Optical Network Diversity - side stepping single points of failure on the AARNet Optical Network

The AARNet3 Layer3 network has been designed with diverse, redundant PoPs in the major capitals.  The underlying NextGen Optical Fibre provides diverse inter-capital routes but without diverse Optical PoPs in the major capitals it has some significant single points of failure.  Projects are underway to provide Optical PoP diversity in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane.  The presentation will discuss campus tail fibre and PoP diversity - informed by the recent Queensland flood experience, and outline plans for the AARNet Optical Network over the coming year.
