Biography:
Glynn Rogers began his professional career as a microwave development
engineer working on the INTERSCAN Microwave landing system project, first
with AWA and then at CSIRO. In the early
80's he moved into signal processing, initially investigating advanced
tomographic imaging algorithms for application in mining geophysics and
eventually leading a team developing a data processing package for the Radio
Imaging Method which has seen application in the Australian Coal Industry. He
also led development of the experimental prototype of the PED system for
personal underground communications. After some work in image compression
technology he moved into networking in 1994 and played a key role in
establishing a research program in advanced telecommunications networks
within CSIRO. This has focussed on Quality of Service issues, initially in
the context of ATM but more recently in IP networks where he has concentrated
attention on the Differentiated Services concept being defined by the IETF.
He is Research Leader for Advanced Networks Technology within CSIRO
Telecommunications and Industrial Physics.
