Biography: Robin Eckermann has spent some 27 years in the IT&T industry since graduating in Computing and Philosophy at Adelaide University in 1972. During the early part of his career he concentrated on software design and development with experience in both the government and private sector. After establishing a software consulting firm in 1981 he pioneered some of the early client-server applications that exploited the new human interface capabilities of PCs. The firm was sold in 1987 to a larger Australian technology company and over the next 7 years Robin served in a range of roles including Canberra Region Manager, Technical Director and Business Development Director. In 1995 Robin resumed his private consulting practice and since that time has focused on business development in the context of future communications. He has been principal consultant for ACTEW’s TransACT Communications Project since its inception and since September 1998 has served as project manager for the Aranda pilot rollout and in subsequent activities to bring the project to the point of a Canberra-wide deployment. ![]() |
