Project CPR: 5 steps to reviving the troubled University project

In 2008 the University of Melbourne planned to replace its existing PABX with an updated Voice over IP Telephony solution. The LAN Renewal project was created to update the University’s existing Local Area Network infrastructure so the new telephony system could work. Three years later, it was made clear that the original LAN project was no longer delivering its outputs. The floods of early 2011 disabled a quarter of the Parkville campus’ existing PABX phones. With a creeping scope, inconsistent infrastructure, time and budget targets being missed and disgruntled clients, the flooding unveiled a list of existing project issues.
This presentation will look at how a troubled IT project was transformed into a University success. In 5 steps, this discussion gives ICT project managers and other professionals the tools to improve current projects and prevent common project issues from evolving in the future.
