The Case for Global Service Innovation & Delivery
Today the service innovation and delivery that supports research and education is generally organised and implemented at local, regional or national levels. In many cases this is an effective way of allocating resources to meet users' needs. However the world is rapidly globalising.
High-speed Internet connectivity, rapid technological commoditisation and economies of scale have spawned new business models and practices with the result that -- almost irrespective of industry -- customers, partners and competitors are but a few IP hops away. The research and education networks are no exception. Change is therefore necessary to secure our businesses for the future.
By reference to specific examples of international innovation and service delivery, including eduroam, eduGAIN and Moonshot, this presentation will seek to make the case that organising globally is a key enabler for this change.
