Network Monitoring - Topics in Nagios (Basic to Advanced)

Building on a fundamental understanding of network monitoring, we would like to demonstrate through a workshop format, Nagios monitoring - using a real server and some real switches and servers on site.
We will look at basics of nagios, setting it up for the first time.
Advanced topics:
- time of day configuration, notifications, escalations and templating
- Basics of SNMP will be covered
- polling vs traps
- passive result inputs
- building your own nagios plugins
- NRPE and remote probes will also be used/demonstrated
Knowledge of Unix, Perl, Network highly desirable.
