USC's Microsoft Office 365 Cloud Based Mail System Migration
USC recently migrated their staff email accounts from an on campus Groupwise mail system to a Microsoft Office 365 cloud based mail system. This presentation will share with the QUESTnet community the journey the University undertook to migrate to the cloud. The presentation will highlight both the opportunities and business benefits realised during the project along with the significant challenges uncovered along the way. Topics such as information privacy, architecture, integration with corporate applications and sociability, the roll-out process, support methodology, impacts on the department and customers will be highlighted.

Peter Embleton's Biography Peter Embleton has been working IT since 1995 when he first started out volunteering his time doing cabling work at Royal Brisbane Hospital. Since then he has worked in both small and large enterprises, spending 10 years as a PABX technician installing and supporting PABX for some of the largest companies in Australia. Since 2006 Peter has been focusing on networks and server and storage in large enterprises. Peter is currently the Infrastructure systems specialist for the University of the Sunshine Coast, a position he has held since early 2011.The work Peter did early in his career doing the physical installation of the technology has paid itself back by allowing Peter to understand all aspects of the ICT Infrastructure, from the cabling all the way to the end user. |
