Student Use of the Wireless Network

Like many Universities, CSU has made a significant investment in a ubiquitous wireless network across campuses. Over the last year usage has exploded, with stats showing huge increases in the numbers of students using the wireless network. What are students using the wireless network for? Looking at how the wireless network is being used will help us begin to assess the impact of on campus high speed Wi-Fi on learning outcomes.

Phil Roy's Biography
Phil has 20 years experience working in the IT Industry, with a strong focus on tertiary education. His current role is Director, Operations, in the Division of Information Technology at Charles Sturt University.
In this role he is responsible for strategic leadership of technology solutions at CSU, support and operation of IT services, and the technical implementation of University projects. Prior to this role Phil was in an academic role at CSU, teaching a range of subjects focusing on Data Networks and Systems Administration in the School of Computing and Mathematics. His research focus is on monitoring, measuring and benchmarking IT service availability. Phil is a part of the Digital Living team on ABC Local Radio Riverina each fortnight. Phil's experience in the IT industry includes a range of sectors, including Media, Medical and Education, as well as proprietor of an IT consultancy business focusing on IT measurement, monitoring and reporting.
