Anticipating the Expectations of Tomorrow’s Students Today - Insights from a P-12 Catholic Education Provider

In just a few short years, many of today’s sixteen year olds will be the latest crop of university students. What will these, so-called Generation Z students expect from their university in 2015? What are they already doing that can help us plan future service delivery architectures.
This generation were born into a fully internet-enabled world. They wouldn’t be able to tell you what Mosaic or Netscape Communicator were and would likely struggle to remember dial-up modems. Theirs is the world of multiple devices connected 24 hours a day to friends, family, school, celebrity, sports idols etc. Their ability to synthesise information into learning would appear better than any generation before and poses dramatic challenges for traditional forms of teaching and learning and network management for that matter.
This presentation aims to help technology service providers within the tertiary sector to anticipate the demands and expectation of the cohort of 2015 based on what those very students in Year 10 today are using in classrooms throughout catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Brisbane. It will detail the current strategies and solutions for mobile devices, collaboration (including video), server-less schools, identity management, wireless, as well as the changing role of tech support. It will also cover the years ahead and how strategies around BYOD and public cloud service delivery are developing.
