Wayne Mallett

Research Networks

In the past few years, there has been a cultural shift in research computing (eResearch) at JCU. In 2002, research computing involved the provisioning of a HPC system. At that time data sharing wasn't much more than presenting a filesystem to users via NFS or CIFS. In 2012, research computing includes online collaboration tools, provisioning of a variety of web services for online data sharing, provisioning of custom systems to meet researchers' requirements, and more. This talk will highlight some of the key changes that have occurred at JCU and how network dependent research is today.
