AARNet – Annual State of the Nation address

Australia's Academic and Research Network (AARNet) is the not-for-profit company that operates Australia's National Research and Education Network (NREN). Our shareholders are 38 Australian universities and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). 

This session will provide a general update on AARNet's current and future Services including Network Services, Cloud Services and tools to support Research.

Jamie Sunderland's Biography 
Jamie Sunderland is Director of Product Solutions at AARNet where he has worked since 2008. He came to AARNet after nearly 13 years at Monash University where he undertook a wide variety of IT related roles including technical support, helpdesk management, network engineer, project manager, commercial manager and IT director in charge of the International campuses of Monash. Jamie was lucky enough to be involved in the establishment of 3 greenfields campuses in Berwick, South Africa and Malaysia as well as setting up the IT infrastructure for the Monash study centre in Prato, Italy.

At AARNet Jamie has worked in the Infrastructure and Business Development areas before being appointed to the Product Solutions role.  The focus of this role is to develop both in-house products and solutions provided in partnership with vendors and Cloud Service Providers.

Jamie holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physics) from Monash University and has nearly 20 years or IT experience in the Research and Education sector.
