The future of collaborative IT is here - the Translational Research Institute one year on
The TRI is a joint venture between The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute, Queensland University of Technology’s Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, Mater Medical Research Institute and the Princess Alexandra Hospital’s Centres for Health Research. The TRI has been made possible through $354 million in funding which was provided by the Australian and Queensland Governments, The Atlantic Philanthropies, UQ and QUT.
This presentation will outline the good, the bad and the ugly of the IT systems deployed and operating as part of the TRI including a 100 rack tier 2 data centre, telephony, building and data centre networks, research computing and storage and AV systems (including telepresence, digital signage and video walls). The presentation will also outline how a single physical wired and wireless network of over 5,500 data outlets is utilised by all the stakeholder groups including QLD Health. The presentation will also outlined the human challenges that accompany such an endeavour.
If you or your organisation collaborates or is planning collaboration for teaching, learning or research then this presentation should have something for you!
