Wireless Support at the Top End: EduRoam in PnG
Ubiquitous access, everything everywhere, wired or wireless
A group working together this year provided the hardware, software and drive that installed the first eduRoam presence in Papua New Guinea (PnG). A collaboration was formed to refresh older Cisco wireless hardware by providing installation advice and training, thus giving it a renewed lease on life up in PnG at the Divine Word University.
A new country and a new environment provided a challenges and reward for a team of two that went up to Madang in February this year. The humanitarian effort provided enhanced wireless coverage for the University while also bringing the eduRoam service to the campus enhancing it as a prospective site for visiting scholars and researchers.
The collaboration was made possible by generous actions of CAUDIT, QUT, AARNET, Open Systems & the eduRoam support team. Come along to hear how our sector has moved across the borders to lend a hand our pacific neighbours.
