The United States and Australia have recently embarked upon very ambitious initiatives related to broadband: for the United States, this has taken the form of the National Broadband Plan; for Australia, this has taken the form of the National Broadband Network. Both plans will have a significant impact upon the economic growth of both countries, but the specific details of each broadband initiative will determine the impact in each country.
