Powerlink Queensland: Developments in the electricity transmission network's capacity to support telecommunications for tertiary education in Queensland
Powerlink's core business is the development, operation and maintenance of Queensland's high voltage electricity transmission network. Powerlink provides a regulated electricity transmission network that transports high voltage electricity from power generators to the distribution networks owned by Energex, Ergon Energy and Country Energy. The Queensland Government-owned corporation internationally benchmarks as one of the world's most reliable and cost-efficient transmission networks.
Powerlink's network is underpinned by a large, sophisticated telecommunications network which now includes DWDM technology. Utilising surplus capacity within their telecommunications network, Powerlink provides wholesale telecommunications transmission service to carriers, such as AARNet, who support tertiary institution educations throughout Queensland.
