Recent Strategic Developments for AARNet
The past year has seen a number of significant strategic developments relating to national research and education network infrastructure. In particular, the Government has begun the roll-out of a National Broadband Network, funding has been allocated for the Regional Broadband Black-spots Program, and additional funding has been allocated to support the Australian Research and Education Network. Each of these initiatives has strategic implications for the research and education community in general, and for AARNet in particular. At the same time, AARNet has continued to develop a range of new services, to improve the way it manages its network operations, and to further reduce the rate it charges for its core network service. This presentation will expand on these themes.
