The Great Debate

'That Australia should introduce an internet filter.'

Should Australia censor the internet..?

In 2008, the Australian Labor Party introduced a policy of mandatory Internet filtering for all Australians. The mandatory nature of the filter implies that it is targeted at adults. While the policy has not yet come into force, it has generated significant discussion and incited a societal tension within this country.

Via High Definition Video Conferencing, two teams of Year 12 students from Tasmania and the ACT will debate the merits and issues that surround the proposed implementation of this policy.

The teams will be comprised from students of the following schools

Tasmania

ACT

The debate will be chaired by Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, and will sure to be a highlight of the 2010 Questnet program.
