‘The only thing that is constant is change’ (Heraclitus). This is a particular truism for the IT industry where new advances both drive and respond to social and environmental changes and challenges. Join four experienced leaders from the fields of higher education, government, commercial and analysis to discuss their experiences transforming both the use of IT in their organisations and also the IT organisations within to transform service delivery and improve the ‘bottom line’ for their business. Their real world stories will provide insights into how to manage transformation in any organisation. Questions from the floor will be invited.
The university sector is evolving at a rapid pace responding to changes in pedagogical delivery, information and technology intensive research and the drive to perform all functions online. Not to mention budget uncertainty and its potential impact. Join three Queensland University IT Directors who have led their areas through significant transformations in the last two years. They will provide inside insights about the key change drivers and thinking in their changes to date and also their thoughts on the disruptive influences coming over the next few years.
AARNet Excellence Awards
For the second year, the AARNet Excellence Awards were presented at the QUESTnet 2014 Conference Gala Dinner. The awards seek to recognise the innovative leadership and technical engineering expertise of the Australian Research & Education community in the use of AARNet's high-speed network and in the delivery of services that have led to new ways to support collaboration, online/distance learning or immersive teaching environments.
Submissions were welcomed from the Research & Education IT Services community that demonstrate the value of the services they deliver to educators, researchers, staff and students.
