Networking on the Horizon
Queensland Education, Science and Technology Network (QUESTnet)
is the Queensland regional component of the Australian
Academic and Research Network - (AARNet).
The QUESTnet conference is an annual event aimed at network
technologists and those ICT professionals who work closely
with network technology. A key focus of the event is to
provide an opportunity for delegates to develop their
professional and technical knowledge and gain an
appreciation of the key strategic issues for network
development.
The QUESTnet 2007 conference will be held from
Monday 9th
to Friday 13th July 2007. This year
Central Queensland
University will host this national conference in the
tropical delights of
Cairns. This year's conference theme is
Networking on the Horizon.
Networking Technologists are constantly confronted with
providing infrastructure that will accommodate the next
Killer Application. Killer Apps are no longer solely
applications in the traditional sense but have evolved into
Web Sites (Flickr,
YouTube,
Digg), mobile broadband or just
novel online communities of interest.
There are many different activities that will drive future
network demand and performance. QUESTnet2007 seeks to
provide insight into developments that are occurring across
a range of areas that will impact our organisations.
This includes:
- GRID’s (Data and Visual),
- Internet exchanges,
- Middleware,
- Protocols,
- Security,
- Sensor networks,
- Social / Community demographics
- Standards,
- Topologies, and
- Wireless.
Pre-conference workshops will be held, offering topics aimed
at providing skills development opportunities for
telecommunications staff. The
Cairns International Hotel is an ideal spot to relax,
learn and exchange information on the future of networking.
We are planning an entertaining and informative conference
offering excellent value for money for all participants.
